Summer-resort Modernisme in the Vallès Oriental.
The Raspall route. Guided tours of summer-resort Modernisme

The Modernisme route in the Vallès Oriental —the Raspall Route—, is an invitation to discover summer-resort Modernisme, ranging from houses and villas surrounded by gardens, to civil architecture including parks, fountains and urban designs. This route acquaints the visitor with the work of the local architect Manuel Joaquim Raspall i Mayol (1877-1937). Raspall was active as a public and private architect in the towns of L’Ametlla, Cardedeu, La Garriga and Granollers, and his most interesting works may be seen there today.

The Raspall Route allows one to visit, in diverse modalities, the work of the architect M. J. Raspall and to learn about the social phenomenon of “summer-resorting”, which characterised the Vallès Oriental at the beginning of the 20th century. Notable among the points to be visited are: in L’Ametlla del Vallès, the Casa Millet, the Cafè and the Town Hall; in La Garriga, the Casa Barbey, the Casa Mayol (Can Raspall) and the magnificent Mansana Raspall, catalogued as a Cultural Heritage of National Interest; in Cardedeu, the Alqueria (“farmhouse”) Cloelia, Casa Rovellat, Casa Viader, Els Pinetons and the Municipal Cemetery; and in Granollers, Casa Clapés and the Sala Tarafa.
