| An
exciting visit to an exceptional industrial Modernista
heritage.
The tour begins at the Town Hall, designed by Lluís
Muncunill (1900-1902). At the Institut lndustrial, designed
by Jacint Matalonga (1835), you can glimpse the political
and social role played by the industrialists of those
times. Then one comes to Casa Alegre de Sagrera, a building
with Modernista reforms by Melcior Vinyals from 1911.
Of special note are the frescoes by Joaquim Vancells
and Pere Viver and the exceptional panel by Alexandre
de Riquer. The next point of interest is a building
of singular beauty: the Masia Freixa (1905-1910), once
a wealthy merchant family’s residence, with vaults
and curves full of harmony. The tour ends at the old
textile mill called Antic Vapor Aymerich, Amat i Jover
(1907), which now houses the Science and Technology
Museum of Catalonia (mNACTEC).
