| Sitges
and its Cau Ferrat (the home and atelier of the painter
and writer Santiago Rusiñol, today a museum)
were, a hundred years ago, a meeting point for intellectuals
and artists, who turned the village into the spiritual
capital of Catalan Art Nouveau.
Even today, the streets of Sitges show that memento
in the architecture of a good number of Modernista buildings.
On the other hand, inside Cau Ferrat and the Maricel Palace,
we can find the most representative elements of that
complete art –painting, music, decorative art
or collecting. All of these elements are the summary
and the expression of the ideas of the Modernista School,
which prevailed at the turn of the 19th to the 20th
century.
