In Reus, the town where the great architect Antoni Gaudí
was born and educated, diverse architects and artists
worked who conceived of the city as a veritable Modernista
stage setting. Despite Gaudí’s ties with
Reus, however, it was Lluís Domènech i
Montaner who left the greatest imprint on the town,
with the construction of the Institut Pere Mata, Casa
Rull, Casa Gasull and Casa Navàs, buildings which
may be visited with the guided tour service offered
by the Municipal Board of Tourism and Commerce.
The Modernisme Route is a pleasant walk through the
centre of town, along a path that is clearly signposted
and where the various buildings are identified by a
plaque. This route allows one to become acquainted with
some of the most interesting Modernista façades
and to relive the spirit that imbued Reus in the year
1900.
