| The town of Sant Joan
Despí has a route for visits to the work of the
man who was its most prestigious municipal architect
for over twenty years: Josep Maria Jujol (Tarragona
1879 – Barcelona 1949).
This route, which allows the visitor to admire the Modernista
heritage of the municipality, proposes a visit to the
fascinating works of this style that are to be seen
here.
The itinerary includes a visit to Can Negre, the Parish
Church, the villas Torre de la Creu, Cal Passani, Torre
Jujol and Torre Serra-Xaus, the façade of Can
Rovira, Casa Joan Manadé and the doorway of the
workshop of the locksmith Josep Oliver. In each of these
structures one observes Jujol’s renovating spirit
in each of these structures, where space and matter
are transformed to create an almost magical world.
